About Ed Barrows
It's possible you may have seen Ed Barrows in action at any of the American Management Association's (AMA's) courses on Strategic Planning, one of Palladium Group's six different How-To Trainings or at Babson College's Innovation Summit. Or, maybe a friend or coworker has told you about Ed's incisive coaching ability or has recommended one of his courses. Then again, maybe you don't know much about Ed, but ended up here anyway in your quest for guidance. Well, there's good news: you've found the right resource. For nearly 20 years, Ed Barrows has had hands-on strategic planning, strategy execution and performance improvement experience with all sizes of organizations both in the private and public/non-profit sectors. He is a consummate professional and regarded as a supremely effective teacher and researcher. He's helped senior management teams improve their ability to plan strategy, manage against the plan and put smart systems in place to keep organizations moving in the right direction. Ed has held a variety of professional services positions within Deloitte, GE Capital, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and most recently, vice president with the Palladium Group's Balanced Scorecard Collaborative. While at Palladium Group, three of his clients were inducted into the Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame for Strategy Execution. Ed's client work was featured in three books and cited as best practice case studies by Balanced Scorecard creators Drs. Kaplan and Norton, and he helped architect the strategy development methodology featured in the 2008 Harvard Business Publishing book, The Execution Premium. Ed has spent his career working inside organizations that know how to get strategy done.

Additional Background and Education
Prior to starting his private sector career, Ed served as an active duty logistics officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He has commanded at the platoon, detachment and company levels, participating in operations Desert Storm and more recently—Iraqi Freedom—where he led a 175-Marine heavy truck company. He retired in 2007 after reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the reserve.
Ed currently lectures at Babson College teaching Operations Management and also at Boston College where he teaches Strategic Management. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the School of Management at Boston University and an M.B.A from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. Currently pursuing a D.B.A at Cranfield University’s School of Management in England, Ed is an active researcher in Cranfield's Centre for Business Performance and also holds a CPA license in Virginia.
